We are excited to share with you one of the Emily’s House / PAC initiatives that is moving forward during this COVID-19 crisis, as our recreation and music team provide remote supports to our respite clients, using daily structured play videos.

Right now, the psychosocial staff for Emily’s House and Philip Aziz Centre cannot be physically present for our respite clients. But, the home-away-from-home feeling created by Emily’s House continues in an entirely different way through a new virtual program- Hannahs at Home!

As of Monday March 30th, Emily’s House/Philip Aziz Centre’s Child Life Specialist Hannah and Music Therapist Hannah have begun releasing fun, interactive videos that our respite and community clients can enjoy through their YouTube channel: Hannahs at Home. A new video is posted every weekday (Monday-Friday) at 1PM that the clients and families can watch and continue to access and return to. Hannah and Hannah have created themes for the week’s content such as: Furry Friends. There will be themed crafts that utilize materials that can be found at home, songs and so much more to explore and enjoy.

We have already received positive feedback from one mom saying, “Thank you for creating something for her to look so forward to’.

Within Hannah and Hannah’s scopes of practice, they aim to meet children where they are and to speak their language through play and music. Children love digital platforms and are already connecting online. Now we’re able to facilitate safe, intentional programming that keeps us at Emily’s House/PAC connecting and supporting our clients.
